Family, but that if His Majesty approves the Colony's
desire for the statue to be erected by public
subscription as the chief feature of the centenary
celebrations, it will be necessary for the
preparations for its execution and delivery in Hong
Kong to be put in hand in good time.
Before doing this, however, we should like
to be sure that the Foreign Office has no comment
to offer, and we should be grateful if you would as
soon as possible let us have any observations on
our proposed course of action.
